Wake Forest 74, Miami 69

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Harvey Hale matched a career-high with 20 points and hit a pair of clutch 3-pointers as Wake Forest beat Miami 74-69 to escape the Atlantic Coast Conference cellar. Kyle Visser had 16 points and David Weaver added 13 for the Demon Deacons (13-13, 4-9), who overcame 18 turnovers by shooting nearly 58 percent. Wake Forest sent the Hurricanes into the league's basement and reached .500 for the first time since late January. Jack McClinton had 21 points to lead Miami (10-16, 3-9), which trailed by 11 points with 1:11 to play before hitting two 3-pointers in the final minute. Copyright 2007 The Associated Press.
