The Board was caught by surprise.
No way was he staying in that position with a new administration in Raleigh.
Had it been his intention to leave all along, they would have been searching for a replacement 6 months or more ago. Just as they did @ CFCC when its President announced his intention to retire.
He's probably ticked off now as the search committee is throwing out a compensation package of up to $300K for the replacement.
