Charlotte man arrested for Wilmington robbery


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington Police have arrested a Charlotte man wanted in connection to a theft at a Wilmington storage facility.

Sometime between January 12 and 13, during the night, someone entered the SecurCare Self Storage on Market Street, breaking into 33 units and stealing property from most of them.

Detectives were able to pursue several leads and secured arrest warrants for Jeffrey Roberts, 34, from Charlotte.

On Thursday, the US Marshall's Service out of Charlotte was able to track Roberts down and place him under arrest. Roberts was served with approximately 55 warrants covering 88 charges, including numerous breaking and entering and larceny charges.

He is currently in the Mecklenberg County jail under a $540,000 secure bond.
