Detectives investigate after woman robbed at gunpoint in own front yard

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- Detectives are investigating after a woman was robbed in her own front yard in a New Hanover County neighborhood early Tuesday.

It happened just after 1 a.m. at 4878 Berkley Drive.

Sheriff's deputies say Ravin Cook was leaving her home in Kings Grant when two men approached her in the driveway.

The first suspect waved a gun at Cook, and demanded her purse. Cook resisted, struggling with the man, until he struck her in the head.

Deputies say the second suspect then approached her and snatched her purse before they both fled the scene on foot.

After the victim refused EMS assistance, the Sheriff's Department K-9 followed the suspects' track before losing it.

One suspect is described as a male, wearing a black hoodie with skulls on it and a black mask. The other male is reported wearing lighter colored jeans, a black mask and gloves.

If you have any information about this robbery, call the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office at 910-798-4161.
