CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- The Steve Haydu St. Patrick's Lo Tide Run kicks off in Carolina Beach next weekend to benefit local cancer victims.
One of the best things about the 9th annual run is that all proceeds stay in New Hanover County, helping people suffering from financial problems that result from the disease.
The Lo Tide Race normally draws close to 2,000 runners, and all organizers involved are volunteers for the cause. Last year, over $53,000 was raised, and the event has raised over a quarter million dollars since the beginning.
The race's president and director, Scott Betz, stopped by Good Morning Carolina to tell us more about the event.
Watch the full interview to hear more about how the money helps cancer victims in our area, and visit their website at lotiderun.org to get involved.
