NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office has called off its search for a missing man. Deputies say they did an extensive search off Murrayville Road for David Cottle Jr.

Cottle was last seen at 1604 Cotswald Court around noon Saturday carrying a grey and lime green backpack. He left the home on foot in an unknown direction of travel.

Cottle is a white male approximately 5 ft. 10 inches tall with red hair, blue eyes, and about 180 lbs. He was wearing white Nike shoes, blue jeans, tan toboggan, and a white tee shirt. Cottle also wears glasses and has a tribal tattoo on his right bicep.

The Sheriff's Office's Detective Division will continue the investigation. Anyone with any information on Cottle should contact the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 798-4161.
