New home BUILDING HISTORY in downtown Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- New history is under construction in downtown Wilmington.

Our Alicia Ross of Kitchen Scoop has been cooking up some plans for a new house in the historic district. With all plans approved and a qualified contractor, Alicia celebrated with an old-fashioned wall raising for her new house this morning.

The design was carefully selected to fit in to existing architecture.

"We love the aesthetic, and that is one of the things we wanted to keep, so we were very careful about picking a timeframe that would fit in," she said. "Our house is around 1905, the style of house then, and we just started putting those pieces together. The inside is very modern, but the outside will fit into the neighborhood."

Today was a big step, but there is a lot of work to do.

We will have more details in a Building History segment in a couple weeks.
