What people fail to accept is that corruption doesn't start with massive abuses once someone achieves positions of high authority. They start out with small things like this and grow if not stopped. Had this been the 1980s or 1990s this cop's actions would not have been caught, he would have persisted abusing citizens, and chances are the power probably would have hooked him into even more severe violations of his authority. Thankfully, due to a simple camera phone (sidebar: obnoxiously held vertically instead of horizontally) this cop has been caught and lost his job. Hopefully he will even lose whatever pension his years in the job has entitled him too as well and find himself struggling to make ends meet in our lousy economy. I believe that is a very fitting punishment and might knock the arrogance out of him.
