I believe that we make too much of storms anyway. You want to build a $4M palace 150 ft from the ocean? Go right ahead. Being foolish is non-denominational, non-partisan and applies to both sexes. It also applies to young and old.
But AFTER the storm is no longer a hurricane I would rely on local weather guys to warn me about the potential damages from a storm that's no longer nationwide media worthy. I dislike the hype the Weather Channel injects into hurricane forecasting.
Jerry Jackson can forewarn the idiots who build the oceanfront palaces far more effectively than Jim Cantore does. As Sandy pointed out a two day nor'easter can pack a far more devastating punch than many hurricanes.
The Disaster Cats at the WC serve a purpose but as storms get closer I'd take a local guy's view over the WC any day.
