RALEIGH, NC (NEWS RELEASE) -- A section of US 74/76 East at Livingston Creek between Freeman and Delco in Columbus County will be temporarily closed from Friday at 6 p.m. through Monday at 6 a.m., weather permitting. The closure is necessary to repair the bridge approach on U.S. 74/76 East. Settling on both sides of the bridge has occurred, so workers will remove the dirt and replace it with concrete and repave the road. Motorists traveling US 74/76 East will take the following six-mile signed detour route: • NC 11 North to NC 87 South back to US 74/76. Motorists traveling US 74/76 West from Wilmington to Lumberton will not be affected by the closure. For real-time travel information at any time, call 511, visit www.ncdot.gov/travel or follow NCDOT on Twitter at www.ncdot.gov/travel/twitter. Another option is NCDOT Mobile, a phone-friendly version of the NCDOT website. To access it, type “m.ncdot.gov” into the browser of your smartphone. Then, bookmark it to save for future reference. NCDOT Mobile is compatible with the iPhone, Android and some newer Blackberry phones.
