High school student killed in Bladen county crash

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- A car crash in Bladen county killed one teenager and sent two others to the hospital.

Highway Patrol Trooper P.M. Sanders says William Humphrey, 17, of Fayetteville was killed.

The Fayetteville Observer is reporting Humphrey was a junior at Cape Fear High School and a standout athlete.

The crash happened around 4:00 this afternoon on Highway 53 near Gum Spring Road in Bladen county. White Oak Fire Chief Tim Tatum says the teens' Yukon SUV hit a power pole and flipped at least three times.

Two other teens in the car, Spencer Faircloth, 18, and Branson Hayes, 17, were taken to the hospital. Trooper Sanders says Hayes was treated and released.
