Prank bombs led to scary situation for Wilmington neighborhood

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington Police continue to investigate after multiple acid bombs exploded in the 600 block of South 10th Street last night.

Residents were evacuated around 10 p.m. and asked to leave for an hour.

People we spoke with say they did not hear anything, and there was no damage from the explosion. One resident says it was scary, because she did not know what to expect.

"I mean being that there is so much going on in the world and the bombings and everything that are going on in the world, it really was kind of scary. It really was, but I just imagine it was some kids playing a joke or a game" Inga Stukes said.

And kids playing a joke is what it was. Police said the bombs were a weak attempt of vandalism. They say they were made out of two-liter soda bottles.

Investigators say they do not have any suspects or leads.
