My daughter and grand daughter saw IM3. Said it was the best of the series so far. They said the city was not really presented well in the movie. This goes along wit this article:
And this quote from the Wilmington REgional Film Commission:
"Apart from some glimpses of local landmarks, like the port and New Hanover Regional Medical Center, if you didn’t know it was filmed here, you wouldn’t know by the movie, noted Johnny Griffin, director of the Wilmington Regional Film Commission, who saw the film at Sunday’s screening."
So IM3 drives comic book sales. But film incentive supporters claim it would drive tourism here. If you can't tell it's Wilmington - then how does that happen? In fact the thrust of the movie was to make you think it was Florida, again Mr Griffin:
"There were the scenes that they shot down on the Cape Fear River, with all the people dangling from the cranes and the cables, and everybody saw that,” he said. “But the way it’s married with this footage in the film, it’s made to look like it’s in Florida somewhere.”
Well that shoots THAT argument down by incentive supporters.....
It's too bad we can't tax ALL the box office receipts....
