Again you are confusing our local colleges only. I would bet by a far and wide margin overall, out of state students make up only a small percentage of the overall college population throughout the state. Even if everyone of them was from out of state it doesn't matter, NC law recognizes all out of state carry permits. So if the student had a permit from their home state its just as valid here in NC as it is in their home state.
The law they may be referencing in the poll only allows storage, the actual question posed on the poll is very broad.
I can even agree with you that leaving guns in cars might not be such a good idea. However I will never agree that someone who legally owns a firearm shouldn't be allowed to carry that firearm on a campus, or pretty much any other place.
Again you keep bringing up these untrained, unlicensed possessors. Go look at the federal crime statistics and do some research on how the increasing numbers of people who are "untrained" are carrying more and more everyday, but there have been very few incidents of questionable behavior. I can't seem to recall one instance where an innocent bystander was hit in the cross fire from a CCW holder defending themselves. The data over the past 20 years just don't support any of the wild wild west scenario's. The wild wild west argument is all emotion and fear without any substantial reasoning to back it up.
