The number of students in UNC universities is capped at 18% and they are going to raise that in order to charge more students out of state tuition to get additional revenues.
20% or one in 5 students.
And I agree that the ONLY safe thing to do is CARRY - not leave it in the car as this proposed law would require.
"I can't seem to recall one instance where an innocent bystander was hit in the cross fire from a CCW holder defending themselves."
Not the point, and you know it.
We are putting guns in cars where they are more likely to be stolen by untrained, unlicensed college students who are NOT CWP holders.
I have no problem with the CWP holders - we as a group very seldom have to even draw our weapons.
But I'm NOT talking the CWP people. I'm talking about that college kid who breaks into a car and comes upon a gun stored there legally by a CWP holder. HE'S the one we have to worry about. HE'S the one that twill mis-use it.
If violent crime is NOT an issue on college campuses, and it appears as though it's not, why allow them on campus? Where would a CWP holder in a dorm room store his/her weapon without allowing other students access?
I'm all for good quality gun rights that protect the law abiding citizen.
This law will PROMOTE the unlawful possession of weapons through criminal activity and not provide ANY protections to the CWP holder while out of their cars.
It's bad gun legislation. I'd rather see a CWP holder be allowed to carry so they don't leave their weapons in a car. This law does not allow that.
Even well intended guns laws can be bad....and this one is.
