It was a big day for some New Hanover County special needs students. The Special Olympics put on the fifth annual Day in the Park at Legion Stadium. Young athletes had the chance to play tennis, bocce ball and soccer. The program is designed to spark students' interest in competing in the Special Olympics in the future. Organizers say the event will also help build students confidence and help them work on social interaction... For the students it was all fun and games. Athlete Saquoia Goodwin said, "I like to have fun. Have fun and soccer is a good thing, you should play it and soccer rocks this place. I'm Sauqoia Goodwin and I know how to play soccer." College students and adults with special needs will be out playing ball tomorrow from 10 to noon. Volunteers are still needed. If you would like to help organizers say just show up at 10 a.m. at Legion Stadium.
