Local Law Enforcement Officers Run for Special Olympics

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The Special Olympics still has an ally in local law enforcement. Again this year, Wilmington Police and New Hanover County deputies carried the Torch of Hope for the organization during the Torch Run Wednesday. They ran from Wilmington to Hampstead to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics in the run-up to the summer games. The Torch Run ends with the lighting of the cauldron in Raleigh to open the Special Olympics North Carolina summer games which start May 31 and end June 2.
