These so called meetings with student athletes and coaches have gone along like comment seen here then Miller has a problem.
"So an so has a conflict of interest"
"So and so has always hated the swim team"
"Peterson is being paid too much"
"You need a name coach to attract name players"
"We have championship teams here"

All of the above statements are supposedly true but none of them do any good.

Miller has to be the bad news bear here, unfortunately.
Look I love sports as much as anyone else and I know that for most universities sports are money losers, but here at UNCW? Too much politics finger pointing and turning of backs by supporters, alumni, boosters, student athletes and many others.
Miller, at the very least should FREEZE all student fees going towards athletics at their current levels.
He needs to take drastic action and he needs to eliminate those sports which are losing "big" money and/or showing pathetic attendance.
He also needs to FORCEFULLY stand up to boosters and alumni, and warn them that more cuts are coming unless they can pick up the pace of fund raising/donating.
Be a MAN Chancellor Miller - ending all sports will NOT damage UNCWs academic endeavors - but keeping them may drain the Universities coffers which WILL impact UNCW's academic endeavors. Make it VERY apparent to sports fanatics that its time to put up donation numbers - or shut up.
Asking 11,600 undergrads to support 400 other undergrads in non-academic games is an aberration.
