While I can agree will a lot of your assessment of the fiscal mess the Athletic Department finds itself in at this time, there is no way the University will allow current rosters fall below 14 teams. It just won't happen. First of all Jimmy Bass has been here two years and some of the issues at hand now should have been addressed then. Same goes for the chancellor and the same goes for the BOT. As for dwindling membership in the SeakHawk Club, You can not be a perennial loser in your flagship program and expect new membership to increase where it is needed most, young professionals here in Wilmington. Corporate Sponsorship has been stagnate for years and when former
directors lie to your face, this former member had had enough. 100k from me over 10 years and I have yet to hear from the new guy... And just think all of this because Mike Cappacio and the Lady Chancellor got into a pissing match with Brad Brownell. We all know who lost that one.
Peterson has to turn the Basketball program around and he had better really show some concerted improvement this year. He has kids who can play. If they don't then the AD will need a sugar daddy to help buy Peterson out and start all over. The consequences? Student fees will rise again. But the remaining 14 teams will not disappear.
You may be correct in some of your overview but you are wrong in where it will lead, I really hope solutions can be attained and quickly. I do not envy the job ahead for the new guy at the helm of the SeaHawk Club.
