GREENVILLE, NC (AP) -- A North Carolina sheriff's office says it rejected a gun permit for a man who investigators believe wounded four people in a shooting spree. Pitt County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Christy Wallace said Monday 23-year-old Lakim Anthony Faust's gun permit application was rejected in August. She says sheriffs have discretion to turn down an application. Faust was studying for his GED from Pitt Community College, but was banned from the campus because of his behavior. Greenville police say Faust is going to be charged with four counts of attempted first degree murder. Investigators haven't found any links between Faust and the four victims. Evidence gathered during a search of Faust's home appears to show he had some plan for the attack and wanted to shoot a number of people. (Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
