WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Duke Energy Progress says the power is back on in New Hanover County after a problem with transmission lines that supply power to the eastern part of the county.
A company spokeswoman says as many as 33,000 customers lost power at about 11 a.m. By 11:30 a.m., she says crews had routed power around the system to restore power temporarily.
Duke Energy Progress says crews are working for a permanent fix to get things back to normal. the utility says customers may see a flicker or brief outage when the switch is made over to the normal system.
City crews say they are working to get traffic lights back online.
