Protestors target McIntyre over immigration reform vote

LELAND, NC (WWAY) -- The Leland office of Rep. Mike McIntyre got a visit from protestors today, who are upset with the Democrat's vote on immigration reform.

The Latin American Coalition stopped by McIntyre's office to protest his vote to defund the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals memorandum. The DACA defers deportations for young, undocumented immigrants.

"Finally two years where we don't have to live in fear of getting pulled over, getting deported, losing their families and what not, he's voting to defund this program that would cause all these youth a lot of trouble in the future," Daniela Blanco said.

The Congressman was not in the office this morning, and the protestors were asked to leave shortly after they arrived.

"Folks from the Latin American Coalition visited our Leland office today to share their concerns about immigration reform," McIntyre's spokesman Dean Mitchell said. "Congress is currently considering several measures regarding this issue, and there will continue to be much discussion and debate in Congress as this matter is considered."
