NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- Two people are dead in North Topsail Beach, but investigators say they are not looking for a suspect.
One witness said his neighborhood was lit up like the 4th of July as emergency crews raced to the beach, where they found the two men stabbed to death last night.
"There was police cars coming from all directions," witness Randy Goodman. "Ambulances, fire trucks, even the highway patrol came flying in and blocked off the streets. They were putting on bulletproof vests and telling everybody to leave for their safety."
Willa-Jo Green was walking on the beach near the old Ocean City Pier with a friend when she says a woman came up to them crying for help.
"She said, 'Can you help me? Please help me. He's dead!'" Green said. "We were just stunned from the moment she said he was dead. We were like, 'Who's dead?' And she said, 'My husband. He's been stabbed, and he's dead. Can you help me? Can you help me?'"
Worried a killer might still be on the loose, Green tried to get as much info as possible from the woman, but she kept giving the same answer.
"She just kept saying, 'I don't know.' I'm telling you, this is a place where you're here because you're either renting or owning one of these homes. You don't just have like random vagrant people walking around stabbing people at North Topsail Beach. That just doesn't happen," Green said.
North Topsail Beach Police say while the incident is still under investigation they are not actively seeking out suspects at this time.
According to north North Topsail Beach spokeswoman Carin Faulkner, the identities of the two victims will not be released until Monday.
