RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) -– The right lane of Interstate 40 West is closed in Haywood County near the Tennessee border due to a rockslide that happened around 7:45 Monday night.

According to a news release, engineers from the North Carolina Department of Transportation are on the scene assessing the slide to determine how to clear the road and when it can reopen. Crews also are on the scene putting up traffic control devices to close the lane and warn motorists.
