WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Police are investigating after they say a man was shot several times through a car window Friday night.

According to police, just after 9 p.m., Shot Spotter picked up shots fired in the 200 block of N. 11th Street.

When officers got to the scene, they found a man who had been shot in the passenger seat of a car.

They say the victim, Tony Russell, was shot through the front, passenger window of the car by another man.

Police say although Russell was not cooperative with officers, he was able to give a description of the suspect. He told police his shooter is a 5'8" black male, with a husky build, wearing black clothes and a hat.

Police say Russell told them the suspect took off on Chestnut Street toward a small, black, 4-door car, believed to be a Grand Marquis.
