WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Police arrested a man they say led officers on a car chase while they were investigating in an area where shots were fired Monday night.
According to police, around 5:45 p.m., when officers were at the scene of a reported shooting that left a bullet hole in a home near Dawson and 12th Streets, they got a tip that the suspect was hiding in a house nearby.
The tip led police to the intersection of 10th and Wright Streets. That's when they say they spotted a man riding on the handlebars of a bicycle, who then jumped into a grey Chevy Impala.
Police say the Impala took off down 10th Street, before officers caught up with the car near Church and 3rd Streets. They say they arrested Rokeem Dixon, 18, of Wilmington.
Dixon is charged with fleeing to allude arrest and no operating license. According to the New Hanover County Jail, Dixon is out on bond.
