WILMINGTON, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) -- State historical attractions in the coastal area are slated to receive thousands of dollars in repair and renovation funds under a statewide capital improvement campaign that has been on hold for several years due to the recession.

The list includes $850,000 for a waterfront stabilization project at the Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site.

"We have some erosion that is going on down there," said manager Brenda Bryant, noting it's important to protect the cultural heritage of the site located along the Cape Fear River just south of Orton Plantation in Brunswick County.
