I was born and raised in Wilmington and visit regularly, so I am well aware of how much my city has changed. It is heartbreaking that so many youths are turning to crime, drugs and violence. This issue is nationwide and includes families from all race, economic backgrounds and upbringings. I know for a fact, all the good parenting and love in the world can not prevent individuals from making poor choices. I am sure Jalani's parents do not condone his actions, and they are not going to turn their backs when he needs them the most. I understand a crime was committed, but lives were lost and please have respect for those families.
