WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – The UNCW men’s basketball team is back home to lick their wounds for a few days after two defeats in the Hawkeye State.
The Seahawks lost by an average of 38 points per game against Iowa and Iowa State both of which may be NCAA Tournament teams this year.
Two senior Seahawks say that the NCAA rule changes may be the root of some of the teams’ defensive struggles.
"Hands off at all times,” said guard Chris Dixon “f they drive you still have to keep your hands off. It's hard because we've been playing and coach has been teaching us to be physical and now they change it so it's kind of a hard transition."
"I've been talking to the refs a little seeing what they're looking for and trying to change little things by trying to keep my hands off so hopefully I can stay out of foul trouble,” said senior Shane Reybold.
The schedule doesn’t get any easier for the Seahawks as they prepare to take on Charleston Southern, a team fresh off an NIT birth last season that has averaged 112 points per game this season.
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The UNCW mens soccer team is soaring to new heights and will be playing for a CAA championship.
UNCW hops into semi-final play on Thursday when they take on William and Mary.
The Seahawks capped their regular season with a 4-2 win over Northeastern last week.
Collin Bonner’s hat trick was good enough to earn him CAA player of the week honors.
