WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- New $100 bills have people doing a double take, but they are for real, and they're showing up at banks in Wilmington.
The redesigned Benjamin Franklins have two major security changes that are three dimensional: a 3-D security ribbon and a bell in the inkwell. This on top of the three security features that were carried over from the previous note.
"There's a big mark. It's right down the middle. It's blue now. It's 3-d and very unique. A lot of people, when they see it at first, see a large 100 on the back. It's very different than the previous 100 bills," said Brandia Bradshaw at Park Sterling Bank in Wilmington.
Bradshaw added that the markers used to test the old bills for counterfeit work on the new bills as well.
