Kudos for recognizing that criminals use stolen weapons.
What is very wrong though is to assume that teachers (or the educational system) is the tool to use for reducing violence.
Sorry but that is letting the parents off the hook. That is hoisting ANOTHER requirement on our educational system that they are unprepared for. Violence is a function of morality or lack thereof. Harming someone else, or robbing someone else is unlawful and goes against all religious teachings. "Morality" stems from the home, single parent or traditional.
There are NO EXCUSES for morality NOT being taught at home in my mind.
But blaming violence on lack of education? Sorry but learning to be kind and respectful to others (and their property) is something even the formally uneducated should learn at home.
Stop piling this stuff on the educational system
