CHAPEL HILL, NC (NCHSAA) -- CHAPEL HILL—The Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of North Carolina High School Athletic Association heard an appeal Wednesday evening via conference call from South Columbus High School.

The appeal involved a matter involving a student-athlete who participated for Southern Vance in last Friday’s playoff game between the two schools.

The executive committee met for over two hours and 15 minutes and voted to uphold the previous decision by the NCHSAA. The student-athlete will serve a suspension for an ejection in Friday night’s playoff game between Southern Vance and Eastern Randolph, and the result of last Friday’s South Columbus-Southern Vance game will stand.

The NCHSAA was made aware of the situation on Saturday, Nov. 16, after the Southern Vance-South Columbus playoff game, which was won by Southern Vance. The question about the student-athlete’s eligibility for that game revolved around whether or not the player had been ejected from a contest on November 8.

The original investigation included conversations with officials who worked the game, as well as coaches and administrators. It was determined that the ejection report, which is filed by the officials with the NCHSAA and then creates the official notification for the schools involved about an ejection, did not transmit prior to Saturday, November 16. Therefore, the young man participated in the game against South Columbus.

RALEIGH, NC (AP) - Jeremy Ingram scored 11 of his 29 points in overtime and North Carolina Central claimed its first win over an Atlantic Coast Conference school by beating North Carolina State 82-72 on Wednesday night.

Ingram made up for a critical missed free throw late in regulation by scoring the first nine points of OT, and that helped the Eagles (3-1) give the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference its first win over the ACC since 2009.

Raleigh native Emanuel Chapman added a career-high 18 points before fouling out for the Eagles. They never trailed in the second half and were 41 of 45 from the free-throw line.

Anthony "Cat" Barber scored 18 of his 22 points after halftime for N.C. State.

The Wolfpack never led after the first half but forced overtime on walk-on Patrick Wallace's 3-pointer with 2.7 seconds left - only to miss their first five shots of OT.
