WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington Police have released the names of two out-of-state pedestrians killed in separate crashes last week. John Harkinson, 53, of New Haven, CT, died Tuesday as he crossed in the middle of the 4900 block of Market St., police say. Investigators say just before 7 p.m. Harkinson crossed Market between Lullwater Dr. and New Bern Ave. when he was hit by a minivan heading west. Police say he was pinned underneath the van and pronounced dead on the scene. Police have not yet released the name of the driver involved. The next night an accident in the 1900 block of Eastwood Rd. claimed the life of Cort Flint, 70, of Greenville, SC. Police say around 8:30 p.m. Flint tried to cross Eastwood near Port City Chop House, when a Lexus SUV driven by Melody Rasmussen, 53, of Wilmington hit him. Flint died at the scene as result of his injuries. WPD says the investigation continues. So far no one has been charged in either incident.
