Arlie Road

I remember it being truly magical driving down Arlie Road back in the 70s....oak trees draping both sides of the road...shaded and beautiful...then at the curve at the ICW opened up to a splendor of water. Now, much more developed, the overhangs are mostly gone, and it's lost it's charm as far as I see. But, in this day when the transplants want the Kenan Fountain to move, I'm sure the Arlie Road of today is a respite drive...but never what it used to be. What brought the transplants to our little town has also destroyed it in so many ways....in the eyes of a native Wilmingtonian
