WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Both active duty and retired officers are joining together to make Christmas brighter for local children. The North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police has been doing this for more than 15 years and everyone looks forward to taking a local child in need shopping. But it's not just free fun, as retired officer Ed Gibson explained. He said after shopping he has the kids bag their own toys and carry them to the car. "It's theirs now, so they need to have responsibility," Gibson said. He and others will take children shopping Saturday, Dec. 14. If you would like to send monetary donations to help their cause. Mail checks or cash to: F.O.P. BO Box 1056 Wilmington, NC 28402
