I cannot imagine any instance where riding a bike or moped on Market Street is something a person of normal intelligence would do especially after 5p.m. during the fall and winter. Even in the summer at the same time of day if is virtually impossible to see anything except the tail lights immedicately infront of you of the sun. I have know people since 1966 when I first started driving who would not drive on Market Street because it is so narrow, not to mention the ever increasing traffic load. That said, I hope Mr. Hansley is going to be able to recover from his injuries. But I feel most sympathetic to Ms. Farrior, she will live with vision of this for the rest of her life, and from my own experience, although I have never hit anyone or anything, it could easily happen without knowing that you hit anyone or anything. Brings to mind a local realtor who was killed on 74/76 or 17 coming into Wilmington who was hit in the early morning hours by motorest who thought they saw an animal or debri in the road..as I recall it was reported by a driver for the News and Observer who thought he had hit a deer. Just saying, it isn't always the way it looks.
