GOP punishes 5 early voting states by stripping half their delegates

READ MORE:
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Republican Party has decided to punish five states including South Carolina for scheduling early primaries. Republican National Committee chairman Mike Duncan says South Carolina, New Hampshire, Florida, Michigan and Wyoming will lose half of their delegates to the national convention. But state party leaders including South Carolina GOP Chairman Katon Dawson remain confident that their entire delegations will be seated. Dawson says any decision on whether to legally challenge the ruling won't happen until after South Carolina's January 19 primary. And even if the state loses half it's delegates, Dawson says it is worth it for the exposure South Carolina gets by being the first presidential primary in the South.
