CUE Center continues focus on missing persons

READ MORE:

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Statistics show the odds of solving a missing persons case decreases by 50 percent, if investigators do not find a solid lead within the first 48 hours. That's where the work of the Wilmington-based CUE Center for Missing Persons often comes in.

As another year ends, the group continues its quest to bring missing people home.

CUE Center founder Monica Caison has made it her life's mission to search for missing persons.

"We have cases that are sitting dormant year after year," she said. "As we come into the new year we want to generate a new interest in the unsolved homicide and missing persons, especially adults who are missing persons, because they don't get a lot of attention throughout the year anyway."

Law enforcement uses many tools to finding the missing. Sometimes it's high tech, like the New Hanover County Sheriff's office using the sable helicopter to find an elderly man.

"Solving a missing persons case is information and time," Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Jerry Brewer said. "Usually for most missing person cases, it's extremely important to jump on it very quickly."

Sometimes the tool is Caison and her army of volunteers.

"It's important, because it could happen to you, and you would want someone to help you through your process," Caison said.

Especially in a situation where timing is everything.

Caison says the CUE Center is committed to people of every age and background. She says if you are missing, they are there for you.
