Power being restored in North Carolina


RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- Crews are repairing power lines across North Carolina as cold weather grips the state.

Major utilities serving the state reported more than 22,000 customers were without electric service Tuesday.

Duke Energy reported more about 17,000 customers without service in western North Carolina. The utility had about 5,500 customers without service in the area previously served by Progress Energy.

Dominion reported about 120 customers without service in northeastern North Carolina.
