My late husband who had serious mental health issues, met our local police at the door with a look-alike 9mm gun and he was taken into custody by ONE officer. They, like these officers knew him, and had been advised by me that the replica was an unloaded toy. My husband, at the time, was depressed and wanted to commit suicide by cop. That officer looked my husband in the eye, walked up to him and removed the gun from his hand, and asked, "What do you think you're doing?". He spun my husband around, cuffed him and called for an ambulance and my husband was admitted to the hospital by the police. When he came home, a couple of weeks later, he expressed how much he admired that cop, who bravely walked right up to him and then got him help.
