UPDATE: Repairs shut down parts of Front Street after boil advisory lifted

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Part of downtown Wilmington's Front Street will be closed down this morning so CFPUA crews can do further repairs on the water main that broke there Wednesday night.

The break happened in the area between Market and Princess streets, where crews say a failed fire line connection caused some significant damage to the road.

CFPUA spokesman Mike McGill says the precautionary boil advisory that was issued yesterday to about three dozen businesses and homes on and around that area of Front Street has been lifted.

McGill says crews hope to finish repairs by this evening, but that a detour will be set up in that area until it reopens.
