NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- A plane traveling from Halifax, Canada to Cuba had to make an emergency medical landing at Wilmington International Airport Wednesday morning.
When the CanJet went to take off again, after the passenger was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, there was a computer malfunction which grounded the plane.
More than 180 people aboard the jet are waiting in the Customs building for another plane to arrive. Airport officials expect that plane to land around 9pm.
"We don't get 183 passengers in our Customs facility on a regular basis, so its a concern to the airport to make sure they're comfortable," said Gary Taylor, ILM's Operations Manager.
Officials say the passengers have been in good spirits all day and the ill man has been released from the hospital.
