WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- His name is Chunky. He's made a living as a grip. Grips, in case you didn't know, are responsible for all kinds of lighting and camera support. Chunky, in case you didn't know, is one extraordinary person.
"Oh there's me and Arnold," Chunky Huse said. As in, Arnold Schwartzenegger. "Who signed my work permits? Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke..."
This British grip has worked with some of the biggest names in the biz.
Even working with both Bruce Lee.
"We must have this one. There's Brandon. I did 'The Crow,'" Huse said.
And Bruce's son Brandon.
His name is Huse. Chunky Huse.
"I did three (James Bond movies) with Roger Moore, two with Timothy Dalton," Huse said. "Roger Moore is a wonderful man. Never stops pulling practical jokes all day long, so you can't believe him."
From "James Bond" to "Star Wars," you better believe Chunky, nicknamed years ago because he was skinny, knows how to make movie magic.
"I was doing a shoot with Cuba Gooding on 'Men of Honor,' and I keep seeing this light hitting him in the eye, so I'm checking all the lights to see where it's coming from, and I see the camera operator," Huse said. "It was his watch."
Chunky got into the film biz working with his family of film technicians in England.
"I started doing shows, met lots of Americans, and I don't know what it is, but they liked me," he said.
He liked Wilmington enough to make it home in 1985.
By 1992 he had created his own company, Gypsy Grips, which is still based in the Port City.
His journey here is as bright as the movie sets he lights up, though he is isn't one to kiss and tell.
"There she is: Angelina (Jolie)," Huse said. "She went, 'Oh, my gah!' Kissed me on the lips."
Well, maybe some stories are worth telling.
