'American Hustle,' 'Gravity' lead Oscars with 10 nods each; 'Iron Man 3' nominated for visual effects

"American Hustle" and "Gravity" have garnered the most nominations in this year's Academy Awards. Each film received 10 nominations, including nods for best picture.

They are up against seven other films for top honors. The other nominees are "12 Years a Slave," "Captain Phillips," "Dallas Buyers Club," "Her," "Nebraska," "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "Philomena."

The nominations were announced this morning in Beverly Hills.

"12 Years a Slave" narrowly trailed "Gravity" and "American Hustle" with a total of nine nominations.

The nominees for best actor are Christian Bale, "American Hustle"; Bruce Dern, "Nebraska"; Leonardo DiCaprio, "The Wolf of Wall Street"; Chiwetel Ejiofor, "12 Years a Slave"; Matthew McConaughey, "Dallas Buyers Club."

Nominees for best actress are: Amy Adams, "American Hustle"; Cate Blanchett, "Blue Jasmine"; Sandra Bullock, "Gravity"; Judi Dench, "Philomena"; and Meryl Streep, "August: Osage County."

Wilmington shot "Iron Man 3" received one Oscar nomination for visual effects.
