WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- We may not see much snow here in Wilmington, but the weather outside is still frightful. And for local high school students, that is so delightful.
It was 65 degrees in Wilmington early Tuesday, but as the temperature continued to drop, we had a number of cancellations in our area.
The threat of snow, ice and cold temperatures led to school districts around the region to announce delays for Wednesday. And at Wilmington International Airport, a number of flights in and out of Wilmington were canceled due to snow in the northeast.
Despite the frigid temperatures a number of local residents tell WWAY that they're not too worried about the cold.
"I'm originally from Michigan and I remember having to drive to school when there's like three feet of snow, and the salt trucks wouldn't be out and about the whole night, and we'd be lucky if we had a two hour delay," said Monica Hoelscher.
"At least here in Wilmington it doesn't stay too long and then it goes away," said Joe Tomlinson.
