German shepherds rescued from puppy mill ready for adoption

SUPPLY, NC (WWAY) -- The dog days of summer are not yet here, but a group of rescued German shepherds are sure to brighten your day and warm your heart.

Brunswick County Animal Protective Services has been caring for five German shepherds rescued from a Duplin County puppy mill two weeks ago. When they found, the dogs were covered in mud and feces and inside of cages.

The dogs, named after Disney princes and princesses, like Aladdin, got the royal treatment with baths, haircuts, food and proper shelter. Once squeaky clean, the canines got to bring out their inner dog playing, sniffing and cuddling with their new friends.

It is hard to believe looking at them now that just last month they were caged in filth.

"The beauty that was under all that is pretty amazing," Animal Protective Services Lt. Tommy Tolley said. "Not just the outside, but the personalities. They all have great personalities, and we're going to make sure we find the right homes for all of these dogs."

If you are interested in adopting one of the German shepherds, contact Brunswick County Animal Protective Services.
