WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Among the many stops on this year's Azalea Garden Tour, the Maloys are no rookies to having their garden featured during the annual event.
Their garden at 2521 Mimosa Place previously earned a spot on the tour twice before. The Maloy Garden now makes its return as if it were part of a fairy tale, complete with little chairs and tables fit for their grandchildren.
Though their garden still looks fantastic, homeowner Jane Maloy says there is something much different about it than from years past.
"Recently we are going to lower-maintenance," Maloy said. "We used to have big ferns on all the pillars, and every time it got cold, my husband had to take them off and then put them back up. So, we've gone to boxed woods, and it's much easier, and we're enjoying it a lot."
Maloy says out of all the secret gardens tucked inside their large yard, her favorite spot is actually the potting shed. She says it's the only place to stay cool during the hot summer months.
