Isaiah Washington watches Burke's return to 'Grey's Anatomy' with WWAY

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Isaiah Washington's return to "Grey's Anatomy" after a seven-year exile Thursday night was one of the biggest events of this television season, and it will forever have a connection to Wilmington and WWAY.

Washington is in Wilmington for the filming of the movie "The Sin Seer," for which he is a producer. Earlier this week Ashley Withers, a reporter at the StarNews and an avid "Grey's Anatomy" fan, Tweeted Washington about getting together to watch his return episode. To her surprise, he agreed and invited WWAY along.

Thursday night, Washington went to Withers's home in downtown Wilmington to watch the show and live Tweet about it. Throughout, he said he was overwhelmed watching the episode, where his character Preston Burke reunites with his lost love Cristina Yang, played by Sandra Oh, and the response it was getting from fans on Twitter.

Washington said he was proud of the show. He also hinted that we might see him again soon on ABC in WWAY in another Shonda Rhimes produced hit: "Scandal."

Washington also said there could be another reunion with Oh down the road. He said he's talked to her about playing Lady Macbeth opposite him in "Macbeth in Africa," an adaption of the Shakespeare classic.

After watching the episode, WWAY's Daniel Seamans asked Washington about his return to the show and the role he left so long ago. You can watch that interview above.
