Man facing charges for Sunday shooting following heroin arrest

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A man who was arrested by deputies for heroin trafficking now faces charges with Wilmington Police for the Sunday shooting on Maides Avenue.

Police say Carl Antonio Scott, 27, was arrested last night after deputies busted Scott and several others for trafficking heroin during a traffic stop. Deputies charged Carl for a slew of drug crimes and possession of a firearm by a felon after an investigation they say began back in April.

Carl now also faces charges with Wilmington Police after they say he is also a suspect in the Sunday shooting on Maides Avenue. He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill for that crime. He is in the New Hanover County Jail under $5,555,000 bond.

The victim in that shooting, Darryl Taylor, 33, was taken to the hospital by a friend for what police said were non-life-threatening injuries. There is no word on his current condition.
