UPDATE: Man shot in leg during dispute in Houston Moore complex identified

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Police are still investigating after they say a shooting in the Houston Moore complex sent one man to the hospital Saturday afternoon.

Wilmington Police say officers responded to the 1500 block of S. 15th Street around 4:15 p.m. when they say ShotSpotter alerted them of shots fired there. When police got to the scene, they say they found a man on the ground with at least one gunshot wound to the leg.

Officers say the wounded man, Lawrence Boyle, told them several shots were fired between two people who had gotten into an argument. Police say Boyle, who claimed to have spotted the two fighting, was shot during the dispute.

Police found several shell casings in the area before Boyle was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for his gunshot wound. There's no word yet on suspects in the shooting, and WPD says they are working to get more information from Boyle at this time.
